After a trip to the vet, we learned that our cat is in kidney failure (his creatinine, the lab correlated with kidney function was 8.1; anything above 1.6 is abnormal and anything greater than 5 is stage 4 full on kidneys are about to shut down).

Woke up to a beautiful thunder and lightning filled, warm rain, tropical storm after closing my eyes for a few minutes.

Fiiiiiiine it was a 4 1/2 hour nap and I don't regret a minute of it!
Deep sleep too, none of that "Did I leave the oven on?" sleep, where you keep waking up for no reason....
