After a trip to the vet, we learned that our cat is in kidney failure (his creatinine, the lab correlated with kidney function was 8.1; anything above 1.6 is abnormal and anything greater than 5 is stage 4 full on kidneys are about to shut down). It's hard not to believe there isn't a depressed Russian novelist writing out my life. Like what the actual fack. We got the cat as a therapy animal for our older child and now the cat is dying.
