I Am Human

I Am Human
Written By: Aimee Suzanne
I know I am human, I live and I breathe,
Through moments of joy and shadows of doubt,
Unraveling thoughts like the patterns of leaves.
I eat and I drink, I consume and I weave
The fabric of life in a world full of clout,
I know I am human, I live and I breathe.
My heart with its whispers, my mind’s quiet plea,
Emotions that dance like the flicker of flame,
Unusual rhythms, in which I believe.
For feelings are tangled, a web to perceive,
Each thought is a thread, yet they never shout,
I know I am human, I live and I breathe.
I cherish my quirks, in them I find ease,
The strange and the weird are what I claim fame,
A melody sung in a voice none can see.
I walk on a path that is just mine to cleave,
In the mirror I glimpse a reflection devout,
I know I am human, I live and I breathe,
Not like you, not like others, my heart’s a reprieve,
In awkward alignment with all that’s about,
I know I am human, I live and I breathe,
But I embrace what is mine, the wonder I mount.
