That does not mean the inverter is faulty or that the system will constantly produce 6.6kW. Solar panels rarely stay at their maximum rated output throughout the day. Weather, sunlight and roof conditions all affect generation.

Why Would Anyone Add More Panel Capacity?

The useful part of this approach is the extra generation outside the strongest sunlight hours.

A solar panel might have a 400W or 450W rating, but real-world output changes constantly. Early morning, late afternoon and cloudy periods usually produce less electricity.

Having additional panel capacity can help the system reach useful output for longer parts of the day.

Does A 33% Ratio Make Solar Better?

A larger panel capacity may suit one roof but make little sense on another. A shaded roof, for example, has different requirements from a clear south-facing roof. Household electricity use matters too.

The useful question is not whether the system reaches 33%. It is whether the panels, inverter and roof work well together and provide the amount of electricity the household needs.
