I don't know about the rest of you goths, but we here in the south-central USA continue to bake under a stubborn heat dome. We've broken records for the most continuous days over 90F by 3 days and still counting. Can't get into the spooky season without autumn weather.

On the morning of 3 April 1882, thousands gathered to view the body of Jesse James, less than twenty-four hours after he was shot dead in St. Joseph, Missouri.


His open coffin was packed with large blocks of ice to preserve his body as mourners, reporters and photographers filed silently past. Those melting blocks of ice made it possible for one of the most famous photographs of the Old West to be taken.


More than 140 years later, the photograph still marks the moment Jesse James passed from notorious outlaw into an Anglo-American legend.

The UK has learn't very much from the USA, back in the day files were 'lost or destroyed'. The floods or 1972, the moving of offices, and the great fire of 2003. Now we are just straight up deleting them like the US.

This is one reason why we should teach foreign languages in high school like it was back in the day. But English should still be the main and official language of the USA.
