The invitation thing is a good idea, but I tried to get a few hard hitters from the VF message board to join 5 years ago and they flat out refused. One even took a gander at who was posting and active and said, "Fuck no and the horse you rode in on!" Makes you feel kinda proud, doesn't it?

The biggest problem with technology today and the main reason why it is so frustrating from time to time...is that it´s all very flat, thin, fragile, etc. And does not allow that cathartic way of fixing things we had in the 90´s that was beating the hell out of the machines. I could hear my neighbors "fixing" the TV back then.

Gratification not only came by fixing it. But because you could discharge some anger against the freaking machine as well. It was a FAIR deal.
