The invitation thing is a good idea, but I tried to get a few hard hitters from the VF message board to join 5 years ago and they flat out refused. The biggest problem with technology today and the main reason why it is so frustrating from time to time...is that it´s all very flat, thin, fragile, etc. And does not allow that cathartic way of fixing things we had in the 90´s that was beating the hell out of the machines. I could hear my neighbors "fixing" the TV back then.
Gratification not only came by fixing it. But because you could discharge some anger against the freaking machine as well.
