Last-minute concert plans. Messer Chups - they sound wild.

A surfer rock / rockabilly band from Russia, with a dark aesthetic. Opening for them is a similarly themed, instrumental horror surf rock band from Spain: Los Tiki Phantoms.

"Live, [Messer Chups] are simply beautiful: guitars drenched in reverb, snippets of horror movies and burlesque acts on the screen, bass and drums pumping a steady backbeat to their nocturnal emission…MC and their fans had their heads shrunk by late-night b-movies. Take any good old Dracula, throw in some Orgy of the Dead and Dance of the Damned, blend it with the surf beats of The Ventures and the like and you are not even close, but you are on your way. This is the sort of music you would expect to hear coming from a car abandoned in a graveyard at midnight during a real-life Twilight Zone."

Made even cooler by the venue being a former church built in the early 1800s, later converted into a concert venue in 1970.

I just started watching Locke & Key. Loved this...

One of the movies which left a mark in me from back then was "American Shaolin". And I still believe the last fight had a magnificent choreography.

And I remember taking this movie as a "F-ck you Karate Kid". If you want to learn asian martial arts, go to Asia and go through the real deal. Because his teacher was an asian man who lied about being a "Shaolin". So he decided to go and try it for real. Having to deal with how life is in a temple and their traditions, etc. Of course it´s all fiction...but I loved the idea.

I took that as a direct hit to the "Asian master, western student" stablished by Karate Kid.
