Reading time. Been a bit since I've picked up an actual book or had time too.

I've been enjoying reading Jujutsu Kaisen a lot more than I thought I would. The powers are extremely convoluted, and things are completely absurd, but it is hella entertaining. I love Kinji's domain expansion. Pure gamba brain. LOL

but it’s okay because

doesn’t have one either

No one is obligated to buy and read new fiction.

98% of people will get more out of revisiting old Graham Greene novels (which are prescient, atmospheric, and beautifully written), for example, than reading the ‘best’ of what has been written in the past 10 years.

And other authors, not necessarily those that are among the classics. Better writing, better perspective etc.

Reading is not optional. Reading is your mental gym. Read relentlessly and consistently.
Reading is one of the best ways to keep the brain sharp.

Crazy to me that anyone can say “reading is a waste of time” with a straight face when literacy is collapsing, people are getting dumber and we’re beginning to reap the results. The future is going to be incredibly bleak unless we all start reading now, voraciously, daily.

You may think screens have destroyed your ability to read, you may think your focus is beyond saving, but I’m telling you, it only takes a bit of effort to recover an attention span. You are capable of reading books again.

Assassination culture is spreading on the left. Forty-eight percent of liberals say it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk. Fifty-five percent said the same about Donald Trump.

In California, activists are naming ballot measures after Luigi Mangione.

The left is being whipped into a violent frenzy. Any setback, whether losing an election or losing a court case, justifies a maximally violent response.

This is the natural outgrowth of left-wing protest culture tolerating violence and mayhem for years on end. The cowardice of local prosecutors and school officials have turned the left into a ticking time bomb.
