"Poor Man's Husband Casserole"
Comforting Beef and Noodle Bake
Ingredients:
8 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package directions
1 ½ pounds ground beef
2 cans (30 ounces) tomato sauce
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
8 ounces sour cream
2 tsp garlic, minced
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp sugar
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Lightly spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
Cook the pasta according to package directions, then drain and rinse.
In a skillet over medium-high heat, crumble and cook the ground beef until thoroughly cooked, then drain the grease.
Add the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the beef, stirring to blend well.
Stir in the sugar, then pour in the tomato sauce and stir again.
Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine the sour cream and softened cream cheese.
Place half of the pasta in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Top the pasta with half of the sour cream and cream cheese mixture.
Spoon half of the meat mixture over the sour cream layer.
Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, sour cream, and meat mixture.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top of the casserole.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown.
