On May 16, 2024, the European Consumer Organization (BEUC) announced that 17 of its members filed complaints with their competent national authorities against Temu for failing to protect consumers and using manipulative practices, thus constituting a violation of the Digital Services Act (DSA). As well as this, the BEUC itself has filed a complaint with the European Commission. According to the BEUC, Temu provides inadequate information regarding its recommended systems and utilizes dark patterns to get consumers to spend more than they originally wanted to.
