why should anyone here entrust me with any degree of administrative responsibility

the way things work in any hierachy is moving step by step up the ladder, and before we get to my highly coveted position of administrator, i think the very first thing i would like to consider is a position of global moderator

but ofc, there would also need to be a roster of other site moderators

however you see it, having active site moderation makes the whole join by invite a moot point, as we will then have a team that will happily donate time to making things good for everyone as a whole

e.g. in a theoretical scenario, i have a small team of site moderators, me acting as head moderator ofc (i wouldnt have it any other way) and powers granted would be that of being able to temporarily suspend problematic users, whilst simultaneously flagging them to senior site users for full suspension/deletion

tackling unwarranted spam is a key focal point, and im ready to pull up my sleeves and get involved !!

This site is in desperate need of an overhaul. I came here 5 years ago and saw the potential. I don't have the skills to make it so, and it's obvious no one else had either. So, I'm throwing my hat in the ring and behind you all the way. And if you can bring Vermin and Juri here, my heart skips a beat with the thought.

the core issue rn is making the site more accessible for all, which is why a fresh team of active moderation is needed.  i get why they wanted to make it register by invite only; to eliminate the spam.  but at the same time, they've shot themselves in the foot, as this has effectively killed off any want to join or participate.

several of my vamp pals have said the exact same thing - if it wasn't for that, they'd be more inclined to be active.

lets tackle that first through an effective three phase plan

1) install a team of moderators led and managed by me
2) remove the gatewalling and make it accessible to all
3) moderators do their fucking job lol

i mean if it dont work, fair enough but you gotta roll the dice and take a gamble sometimes

either that or slowly watch this thing dry up faster than an ethiopian well

the first option sounds significantly better to me

btw, out of the two, i think the one least likely to be here would be vermin

in fact, i think he would outright refute any appeal to him being asked to come here

idk about juri, since i havent posted alongside him in years :p

oh and also

i would absolutely love to be a huge part of the forums as a whole

like having the ability to create new subforums, reorganise things, give users their own custom user titles etc

this is an off-shoot to everything else i've said itt but please pretty please with sugar on top
