I still can´t find a native English speaker who can tell me, in a successful or accurate way, what the f-ck is a "Critter".

What do you call "a critter". An animal? A certain being in particular?. A small creature?. Is a bug a critter?. Is a lion a critter?. Could a person be called like that?. I never ever understood the real concept of "critter". And to my foreign ears...it sounds beautiful!. It´s a charming word.
